Peet
was introduced to glass in 1971 as one of the first students
at The Pilchuck Glass School, in Stanwood, Washington. Peet
Earned his BFA degree in Ceramics fro the Kansas City Art Institute
and received his MA degree in Glass from Kent State University
in 1976.
In Peets Landscape Series he shapes the tree images by using
flamework techniques, applying the hot cane glass directly to
the surface of the blown piece.
Peet
has learned that "glass can be intensely hot, delicate
enough to float in air but also exhibit tremendous strength.
It can be transparent as water or take on the luster of metals…
virtually anything that can be imagined."
