Matthew Buechner

Matthew grew up in Corning, New York, his father was director of Corning Museum of Glass. Matt starting blowing glass in a local glass studio when hew was 18. He went on to study glass and ceramics at Hartwick College. Matthew traveled to Germany to work in at the Glasshutte Eisch glass factory in Frauenau, West Germany as a bit gatherer/ apprentice, making stemware.

In 1981 Matthew and his wife, Adrian moved to Newport, Rhode Island and established Thames Glass Studio.
